Alix Smith
Welcome

Hi, I'm Alix. Thank you for your interest in my practice- I'm so glad you're here! As a former therapy sceptic turned therapist, I know firsthand how difficult it can be to take the first initial steps towards getting support. My goal is to create an affirming, safe environment to empower you or your family to alchemize your challenges into transformational growth and deep healing. While I am constantly learning and growing, you are the expert on your lived experience. Together, we can partner to step out of patterns, narratives, and beliefs that no longer serve you so that you can create the relationships and life you long for.

My Approach

My Approach

I am a play therapist by trade, and I bring curiosity, a sense of humor, creativity, and compassion into all of my sessions. I meet young people where they are. My style can be described as warm, inviting, and non-judgemental.

I work with kids, teens, young adults, and couples who want to work to make sense of their past in order to have happier and more fulfilling futures. Together, we will create a brave space for you and your family to explore challenges with curiosity and compassion. You are always the expert in therapy, and we are partners working together to find the best way forward.

Philosophy

The experience of living under patriarchal, capitalist, and racist systems can cause deep wounds that transcend generations. I am deeply committed to ensuring that culturally-competent, evidence-based, trauma-informed therapy is accessible to everyone. I start with your needs and interweave techniques such as Play Therapy, TF-CBT, EMDR, and Emotionally Focused Therapy if they apply and are a good fit for you, your child, or your relationship.
